Things that don't stop unwanted telemarketing calls:

Visitors to 800notes.com have tried various methods to reduce or stop receiving telemarketing or scam phone calls.
The following is a partiial list of methods that have proven to NOT work!
Save time, save money, save yourself from continued irritation ... don't try these methods!

  1. Telling the caller to go [bleep] themselves.
  2. Blowing a horn, whistle or flatulent expression into the phone.
  3. Telling the caller you are tracing the call.
  4. Telling the caller you are on the Do Not Call list.
  5. Forwarding the call to a politician or a previous "scam caller".
  6. Insulting the caller's nationality.
  7. Changing one's phone number
  8. Terminating an otherwise useful landline.
  9. Believing the Federal Do Not Call list is a call blocker, or will stop calls from scammers.
  10. Pressing a key to be taken off the spammer's call list.
  11. Returning the call.
  12. Giving the phone to one's infant, so the infant can talk to "Santa Claus".
  13. Asking a spammer / scammer to stop calling.
  14. Threatening the caller with a law suit, even though you cannot identify the caller.
  15. Posting a vulgar report on 800notes
  16. Making a "stop calling me" post on 800notes.
  17. -- Even worse: Making a "stop calling me" post on 800notes, and including your phone number!
  1. Wishing there were more laws against spam phone calls.
  2. Telling the spammer that the call is being recorded.
  3. Posting, "Does anyone want to start a class action lawsuit against these guys?"
  4. Asking on page 126 of a thread describing a scam - "Is this real or a scam"?
  5. Coming to 800 notes & confusing it with 'Ashley Madison' or Angie's List
  6. Believing that typing in all caps is an effective form of communication
  7. Asking someone else to handle the problem.
  8. Stating that doing nothing is a viable solution to the problem.
  9. Wondering why their post on 800notes did not stop the problem.
  10. Actually believing a cold caller will give you a loan/gift/prize/lottery/Government Grant.
  11. Stating "It's the Republicans fault."
  12. Stating "It's the Democrats fault."
  13. Asking to speak with the spammer's supervisor.

The bottom line:
The best way to reduce the number of calls from unwanted callers is to use a call blocking device. Search the web for "call blocker", or visit someplace like amazon.com's list of call blockers
